To all mecu members  

mecu is very committed to supporting members, staff and communities impacted by the fires that have devastated Victoria. The following actions will be implemented to assist those who have been impacted by this event.  

1. The Credit Union Foundation of Australia has established a Disaster Relief Fund that all credit unions and building societies and their members can donate money to. Please click here for more information and to donate online. Donations will also be accepted at all mecu service centres.
2. mecu will offer assistance to all members and staff impacted by the fires as required. The specific assistance provided will be appropriate to each person's specific circumstances and need and shall be offered on a case by case basis.
3. mecu's Credit and Insurance teams have been briefed to attend to people's needs in the most caring and prompt manner possible.
4. mecu will liaise closely with our insurance underwriters to ensure members and staff making insurance claims have their needs met promptly.
5. mecu staff who have been impacted by this event have been encouraged to take advantage of counselling services offered by the credit union's Employee Assistance Program. 

We expect there may be a need to assist some members manage their current loan commitments.  Specific assistance will be offered to members with an mecu loan who have been impacted by the fires.  We will also offer fast tracking of new loan applications for people in need.    

Our thoughts are with all members, staff and their families whose lives have been impacted by the fires. Our appreciation is also extended to everyone who is working to support the victims of these fires.
